Because dogs grow up incredibly fast, the first 15 years of human biological development are compressed into a single 12-month calendar year for a dog. A 7-year-old child is biologically equal to a 6-month-old puppy.
Once we pass 24 human years of age (which equals 2 dog years), the aging gap narrows. Every single chronological year after that equals 4 to 7 "human biological years" for a dog, depending on breed size.
