Our UT GPA calculator uses the official University of Texas grading scale and academic policies to provide accurate GPA calculations. The calculator supports the semester system,various GPA types, and provides comprehensive academic standing information specific to UT requirements and graduation standards across all UT campuses.

UT GPA Calculation Formula

Grade Points = Grade Value × Credit Hours
Total Grade Points = Sum of all (Grade Points)
Total Credit Hours = Sum of all Credit Hours
GPA = Total Grade Points ÷ Total Credit Hours

UT uses a 4.0 scale with specific grade point values. Pass/Fail courses are excluded from GPA calculations but count toward degree progress requirements and financial aid eligibility.

  • • A+, A = 4.0 | A- = 3.67
  • • B+ = 3.33 | B = 3.0 | B- = 2.67
  • • C+ = 2.33 | C = 2.0 | C- = 1.67
  • • D+ = 1.33 | D = 1.0 | D- = 0.67 | F = 0.0

Special Grades

  • • P (Pass) = No GPA impact
  • • Q (Drop/Fail) = No GPA impact
  • • W (Withdraw) = No GPA impact
  • • I (Incomplete) = No GPA impact

Academic Standing & Honors

  • Good Standing: Maintain 2.0+ cumulative GPA
  • Academic Probation: Below 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Dean's List: 3.5+ GPA with 12+ credit hours per semester
  • Cum Laude: 3.5-3.74 cumulative GPA at graduation
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.75-3.89 cumulative GPA at graduation
  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.9-4.0 cumulative GPA at graduation
