Density is the relationship between weight and volume. It tells us how much an ingredient weighs per unit of volume. The formula is:
Density = Weight ÷ Volume
For example, water has a density of 1.0 g/mL, meaning 1 milliliter of water weighs 1 gram. Flour has a lower density (about 0.529 g/cm³), so 1 milliliter of flour weighs only 0.529 grams.
