What does this period tracker and ovulation calculator show?

From your last period start, average cycle length, and typical bleeding days it estimates: (1) ovulation date, (2) fertile window, (3) next period and two later starts, (4) optional cycle day and phase when your device date loads. Default (LMP Mar 1, 2026, 28-day cycle, 5-day bleed) → ovulation Mar 15, 2026 (day 15), fertile Mar 10, 2026–Mar 16, 2026 (7 days), next period Mar 29, 2026.

How is ovulation estimated in this period tracker?

Calendar rule: ovulation ≈ 14 days before the next expected period → cycle day 15 on a 28-day cycle. Default → Mar 15, 2026. A 32-day cycle (LMP Feb 10, 2026) → Feb 28, 2026 (day 19). Shorter 25-day → Aug 21, 2026 (day 12). Same core math as our standalone ovulation calculator.

What is the fertile window and how many days is it?

Modeled as 5 days before ovulation through 1 day after (sperm survival + egg viability). Default → Mar 10, 2026 to Mar 16, 2026 (7 calendar days). Peak timing often cited: Mar 13, 2026–Mar 15, 2026. 32-day example: Feb 23, 2026–Mar 1, 2026.

What does “cycle day” mean on this tracker?

Cycle day 1 = first day of menstrual flow (same definition many clinics use). Count forward until the day before the next period. After your phone date loads, we roll forward if you are past predicted bleeds — e.g. as of May 25, 2026 with default inputs → active cycle start May 24, 2026, cycle day 2, ~27 days until next period (Menstrual phase (estimated)).

Why does the tracker ask for period (bleeding) length?

Bleeding days label the menstrual phase vs follicular / fertile / luteal wording — they do not change ovulation math. Default 5-day bleed: days 1–5 = “menstrual phase (estimated).” A 6-day bleed on a 32-day cycle still ovulates on day 19; only the early-cycle label extends one day.

How does roll-forward work if my last period was months ago?

When “today” (your device date) is on or after a predicted next period, we advance to the current cycle start by adding whole cycle lengths — up to 48 cycles. Demo as of May 25, 2026: entered LMP Mar 1, 2026 rolls to cycle start May 24, 2026 instead of staying on March. If your real cycles vary in length, averages will drift — log actual starts.

When is my next period expected?

Next start = current cycle start + cycle length. Default → Mar 29, 2026, then Apr 26, 2026 and May 24, 2026 if length stays 28 days. 32-day example: next Mar 14, 2026. If period is >7 days late and pregnancy is possible, test.

Can I use this period tracker to avoid pregnancy?

No. Calendar rhythm methods have high typical-use failure rates; ovulation moves and sperm survive ~5 days. This fertile window (Mar 10, 2026–Mar 16, 2026) is for awareness and TTC planning, not contraception. Use FDA-approved birth control if prevention is the goal.

How does this compare to ovulation kits or basal body temperature?

LH urine tests detect a surge ~24–48 h before ovulation; BBT confirms ovulation after a sustained temperature rise. This tool might show ovulation on Mar 15, 2026 while your LH peak is 1–2 days off in the same cycle. Best for TTC: use calendar estimates to start OPKs ~4 days before expected ovulation, then time intercourse after a positive test.

How does cycle length change ovulation day?

Ovulation cycle day = length − 14 + 1. Table: 28-day → day 15 (fertile Day 10–16); 32-day → day 19; 35-day → day 22 (Feb 5, 2026). Do not assume day 14 if your cycles are usually 32+ days.

When should I see a doctor about my cycle?

Seek care for very heavy bleeding, severe pain, cycles consistently outside ~21–45 days (adults not on hormonal contraception), no period with possible pregnancy, or sudden changes. Irregular cycles make calendar trackers like this less accurate — pair with clinical evaluation.
