What is a normal Adderall level in urine?
Direct answer
Urine has no therapeutic range. For 20 mg daily the model expects about 4,910 ng/mL at 4 hours (2,140 ng/mL–11,940 ng/mL) and about 1,360 ng/mL at 24 hours. 7,485 ng/mL is about 15.0× a 500 ng/mL cutoff and fits a sample a few hours after a 20–30 mg dose.
Expected level by dose
Immediate-release Adderall, once a day. The parenthetical range is dilute urine through concentrated urine.
| Daily dose | 4 hours | 24 hours |
|---|---|---|
| 5 mg | 1,230 ng/mL (535 ng/mL–2,980 ng/mL) | 339 ng/mL (139 ng/mL–918 ng/mL) |
| 10 mg | 2,450 ng/mL (1,070 ng/mL–5,970 ng/mL) | 678 ng/mL (278 ng/mL–1,840 ng/mL) |
| 20 mg | 4,910 ng/mL (2,140 ng/mL–11,940 ng/mL) | 1,360 ng/mL (557 ng/mL–3,670 ng/mL) |
| 30 mg | 7,360 ng/mL (3,210 ng/mL–17,910 ng/mL) | 2,030 ng/mL (835 ng/mL–5,510 ng/mL) |
| 40 mg | 9,810 ng/mL (4,280 ng/mL–23,880 ng/mL) | 2,710 ng/mL (1,110 ng/mL–7,350 ng/mL) |
Blood has a therapeutic range (often listed as 10–100 ng/mL in serum). Urine is tens to thousands of times higher and is used for detection, not for dosing.
Numbers people see on a report
| Result | Versus the cutoff | What the model says |
|---|---|---|
| 7,485 ng/mL | 15.0× a 500 ng/mL screen | Matches 30 mg XR at 6 hours (6,980 ng/mL typical). About 39–54 h to fall under 500 ng/mL. |
| 5,929 ng/mL | 5.9× a 1,000 ng/mL cup | Positive. About 26–35 h to fall under 1,000 ng/mL with no further doses. |
| 97 ng/mL | Below 250 and 500 ng/mL | Negative on those workplace tests. Close to 136 ng/mL at 60 hours after 20 mg daily. |
Limits
- The same dose can read near 1,000 ng/mL or well above 10,000 ng/mL. Urine volume and urine pH move the number. A higher result alone does not prove a higher dose.
- Screening cups can cross-react with other medicines. GC-MS or LC-MS/MS confirmation names amphetamine itself. Adderall is a mix of d- and l-amphetamine; Vyvanse and dextroamphetamine are d-amphetamine only.
- Educational estimate from the calculator’s model, not a lab report and not medical or legal advice. A prescribed medicine is still amphetamine on the raw result.
