Default prices: propane about $30.66/MMBtu vs natural gas about $11.50/MMBtu (therm pricing). Annual costs at 50 MMBtu/yr differ by roughly $957.90 before fees.
The calculator converts each fuel price into dollars per million BTU. Propane cost per MMBtu equals price per gallon divided by MMBtu per gallon. Natural gas cost per MMBtu equals price per therm divided by 0.1 MMBtu per therm, or price per CCF divided by MMBtu per CCF using a therms-per-CCF factor. The lower value indicates cheaper delivered energy before appliance efficiency. Optional annual heat demand multiplies each $/MMBtu by the same MMBtu load for a rough annual fuel-cost comparison.
$/MMBtu (propane) = ($/gal) ÷ (MMBtu/gal)$/MMBtu (gas, therm) = ($/therm) ÷ 0.1$/MMBtu (gas, CCF) = ($/ccf) ÷ MMBtu/ccfReplace defaults with your delivered propane quote and gas utility effective rate.
